CELEBRATING YOUR PREGNANCY!
Charlotte shares with you THE MOST MAGICAL DAY
This weekend, I was lucky enough to have my baby shower.
Being a Brit, I’d never attended a baby shower before!
Baby shower’s have only become a “thing” in the UK over the past couple of years, and I personally have never had the opportunity to attend one, so, attending my own baby shower was super exciting.
I didn’t know what to expect and was so excited to see how the ‘Merican’s do it. 🙂
My friend organized for the shower to be hosted at an amazing beach house in Northern California, just a short drive from where we live.
Sometimes a little cooler at the beach, we were blessed with the most glorious weather.
Panoramic, breath-taking views of the coast for miles around. The weather not too hot, not cool; beautiful to sit out. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.
My friend hosting the shower is always exceptionally well put together; from the way she dresses, to the way she styles her home; the way she wraps gifts even organizes her notebooks…. She effortlessly makes everything look like it’s straight out of a magazine.
I knew since she was organising the shower it would be amazing, but, I never imagined anything as incredible as this! 🙂
Decorated in subtle hues of pink, there were so many nods to our beautiful little girl. Pink balloons, streamers, pom-poms, a washing line adorned the fireplace, with tiny baby clothes, stuffed animals in keeping with my nursery theme. Everything was thoughtfully styled to perfection!
Check out the adorable unicorn (above), paired with the jars of candy, and perfectly iced pink cupcakes- (which tasted divine too).
I had an intimate guest list of my ten closest friends, for a “ladies lunch!”
I am so lucky, having only lived in the US for 2.5 years, to have met such amazingly cool, smart, driven, inspirational people.
We were served a choice of pink lemonade, homemade peach bellinis, or prosecco which were oh- so-refreshing, and sipped whilst admiring the view of the ocean, whilst sat relaxing on the patio.
For lunch, our menu was comprised of: tomato bisque, a quinoa salad, smokey grilled cheese and corn-bread.
The table was elegantly put together, with stunning pink and cream flowers, and cupcakes on individual stands.
Post lunch we had a great time playing “Guess the Size of Mommy’s Tummy.”
It was hilarious to see how everyone faired! Some better than others let’s say!! 🙂
We then moved onto “The Price Is Right” the aim of the game to guess the cost of typical baby items, like diapers, baby wipes and so forth. As none of my friends are “mommies” (yet) it was wild to see the variation in how much we perceive items to cost. I’m sure one of my lovely friends could have raised 3 children for the “expected” cost she had to mind! Reassuring for some perhaps(?!)
***Woowzer! My tummy is poking out quite a bit there. 🙂
We them moved on to opening gifts for little baba.
I was so overwhelmed by how kind and generous everyone was. We were gifted some of the most beautiful, thoughtful presents. Little baba is one of the most lucky little girls.
The American “Baby Shower” experience was one of the highlights of my pregnancy journey! A truly magical day.
It was so amazing to share such an incredible day with such special friends. My American family!
I feel so blessed to have such wonderful, kind, generous friends who would organize such a gorgeous shower. With just over a month to go until baby’s due date, this shower was the perfect experience; I am so excited about the future adventures we have waiting for us around the corner.
